This morning I walked outside to check out the snow and it was simply beautiful. It was the purest white and covered the ugliness of the winter ground like a blanket of peace.
There wasn’t a sound to be heard, just quietness and calmness. I can’t explain it, but a pretty snow seems to bring rest to our soul; it gives you the feeling that everything is going to be okay.
It is much like the grace and mercy of God. In fact, Isaiah 1:18 tells us, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow.”
God’s mercy is so great that it doesn’t turn our blood-red-sin into a lighter shade or red, it turns it to pure white, without a trace of the stain of sinfulness. His grace and mercy completely covers the sin of those who come to faith in Christ.
Although we may continue to sin, when we confess and repent of that sin, it is immediately covered by God’s grace and mercy. Knowing that should bring peace, calmness and quietness to our soul.
I pray that you enjoy the beautiful snow today, but more importantly that you enjoy the beauty of God’s grace and mercy.
