REFUGE

Do you ever feel that the enemy is always nipping at your heels, constantly trying to distract, deceive and destroy?

It seems that you get over one hurdle only to be faced with another before you can catch your breath. That’s the enemies plan, to wear us down, to weaken us to the point of giving in.

Well, David shares some encouraging words in Psalm 61:1-4 … “Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for You have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy. Let me abide in Your tent forever! Let me take refuge under the shelter of Your wings!”

David knows that the Lord has protected him, that He has been his refuge. Even though his enemies have been in hot pursuit of him, they have not destroyed him. David finds comfort and rest in God’s tent.

Now, this passage doesn’t promise us that God will shield us from all adversity; it does, however, tell us that He provides a safe place, a place of comfort, rest and strength. That place is in His presence, and we experience His presence through prayer, His word, and fellowship with other believers.

So, let’s take time today to pray for comfort, rest in the promises of the word, and strengthen each other against the enemy.
