And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 1:14
In this passage Paul speaks of the abundance of God’s grace in bringing about his personal conversion and call to ministry. Paul refers to himself as “chief” among sinners. In Paul’s eyes, his sins were abundant and it took abundant grace to forgive them.
You know I don’t have very much in common with Paul, but one thing I do have in common with him, I also was “chief” among sinners.
Even though it may have been in ignorance, my sin was abundant. My pre-Christian life was offensive to God. I cared nothing about Him, I was selfish and arrogant and I deserved nothing from Him.
Yet, because He loved me, He poured His “super abundant grace” into my life rescuing me from darkness and giving me purpose and meaning in life.
Thank you Lord!
